So, I keep hearing how everyone is blogging, and we'll I just caved and decided to join. I figure it's a pretty convenient way for friends and family to stay in the loop of our "happenings" in Shreveport, LA. So here is what the past 10 months have brought us.
January~Still in Columbus AFB, MS awaiting Chris' UPT Graduation. Chris and a few other T-38 guys rolled into 08-05 class due to weather & plane issues. Normally, Olivia would be rather upset at the few more extra weeks of UPT, but since her BFF Sarah's husband is in 08-05, she was thrilled. Also, the 08-04 & 08-05 classes meshed so well, it was hard to tell who belonged to which class.
February~Assignment Night! We found out that Chris & Olivia will be moving to Barksdale AFB in Louisiana. Chris will be flying the B-52 bomber. Chris is happy. Olivia is happy. Our family is happy. It will be nice to be so much closer to family and friends.
Graduation! 15 Feb 08 After years of applying, hard work, and dedication, Chris is now a Pilot in the USAF. Our families were able to join us on this special day. We were thrilled that Ryan could fly in from Hawaii, and a even sweeter surprise from Sherry flying in Germany! We thank you all so much for all the love and support throughout the year of UPT.
March~Move to Barksdale in the middle of March....homeless.
April~On 04 Apr at 0200, Olivia wakes Chris up to tell him that she is pregnant!!! Calls Mom-in-law first to give her the news, then Dad-in-law, next we drove out to Ardmore, OK to surprise my parents with the news of them becoming Grandparents. One of my favorite days ever.
May~Took a 10 day trip to Hawaii to visit Ryan (Chris' brother). Absolutely lovely and a bit well deserved after a crazy year of pilot training, and work.
20 May~Chris begins FTU training on the B-52. He also put Barskdale as our number 1 choice of station. It could either be here or Minot, ND....we're hoping with Olivia's due date being so close to Chris' graduation, they'll stay here in LA.
29 May~Staying in Barksdale! So happy! Now the house hunting can begin!
June~Put bid on a house we love! Bid accepted! Moving out of apartment! Visit Liz & Tyler for their Anniversary Party themed Beer Olympics...no fair for Olivia.
July~Visit family in Kansas City for the 4th of July weekend. Happy to see Sherry & Justin, and being a part of Justin's Captain promotion. Olivia stays in Ardmore for two weeks with her Mom & Dad, and gets to see Sarge & Goomba. Her parents are thrilled to have her here and pamper the Mommy-to-be.
23 July~Chris & Olivia become homeowners! Move in the following day!
25 July~A sad day in the B-52 community. A plane crashed killing all 6 crew members off the coast of Guam. Details still unknown. The squadron recently deployed and is from the 20th Bomb Squadron, which Chris will be a part of. Thoughts & prayers go out to all family, friends, and Barksdale AFB.
August~Chris & Olivia fly out to Tucson for Dave & Debi's wedding! Good to see old friends! Chris celebrates his 29th birthday! Friends from TX and OK come out to visit for the weekend.
September~Chris' parents and Ryan come out to visit for the Labor Day weekend! Hurricane Gustav makes it's way to LA coast. Chris is called in to fly a plane out to Minot.
Later this month, Olivia's parents host a Couples Baby Shower for them. Their best friends Bret & Sarah flew out from TN to join them.
October~Preparing for Baby Occhiuzzo's arrival. Classes, meetings, functions, and volunteering, keep Olivia pretty busy this month. Her parents make a trip out to visit the last weekend of the month. Makes it the 8th time they see each other this year. How awesome to be so much closer to each other.
Well, there you guys have it, a brief rundown of the past 10 months. I will next post a blog, about how the past few months of pregnancy has been treating me and Chris.
